South African Zulu stick or club

Description

An Nguni/ Zulu stick staff or club. The wood of unusual and attractive patterning of two tone dark and lighter zones. Some bands of woven copper wire. The butt tapering. This item belonged to Charles Packett who was a businessman, traveller, and collector. According to his records this item was thought to have belonged to King Lobengula, the last king of the Matabele/Ndebele tribe who died in 1894.  african
