Persian Shamshir sword with Wootz steel blade circa 1780
Nice original Persian shamshir sword, nice old piece dating to the late 18th century. The hilt in the turkish style of dark horn, the crossguard, and scabbard mounts of steel with attractive pierced design. The deeply curved blade of wootz steel with a visible watered pattern. The scabbard is original, with black hide or leather covering, the reverse seam sewn with fine silver wire, steel chape. The top back of the scabbard is slit to allow the swords curvature to pass in and out easily. Age wear overall, the steel is aged and darkened, small area of leather missing to side of scabbard, chape tip with minor damage, one horn grip with old crack near the pommel. A very nice untouched sabre from the same oriental weapons collection as the kirachs listed currently. More information provided to buyer. indo persian, middle east
