Description
A good Saif sword from North Africa, Nimcha 18th or early 19th century. The hilt of typical form carved from a single piece of solid horn, iron mounts and guards with traces of silver decoration. The blade a good example, slightly curving and fullered, stamped in multiple places with bladesmiths marks, and crescent moons, probably German or Italian in origin. The scabbard of several parts, made of heavy silver in a most attractive chevroned design, hallmarked for silver quality in various places. Two silver suspension rings. middle eastern
