Moro Barong Knife from the Southern Philippines
An antique Moro knife or chopper called a Barong. A heavy leaf shaped steel blade, very thick and rigid at the spine used for close quarter fighting. The blade shows definate watering patterns, showing the blade is of high quality and has been forged from various mixed steels to create lamellar strength. The hilt with silver mounts. The pommel of a dark hardwood inlaid with inlaid plates of mother-of-pearl shell.
