Mahdist Sudanese sword Kaskara
Description
A 19th Century Sudanese sword from Worden Hall Lancashire. These swords are decorated with crocodile skin which was commonly used by followers of the Mahdi during the revolt against the British in the late 19th century and are typical of this period. Additionally the blade of the sword has etched decoration and arabic script again typical. Generally good condition, the blade of the weapon has rust and wear and would benefit from further cleaning, but good sound condition throughout. The crocodile skin sword scabbard ends with a croc foot.
Please note the doubble dagger Haladie is now not included with the kaskara sword.
