Long Snaphaunce musket from Northern Morocco with silver embellishments

Description

Very long snaphaunce flintlock musket from North Africa. Wide flaring butt with strips of coloured woods to the end, the stock applied with chiselled silver mounts, and the wood with worn traces of incised designs and inlay. The good steel barrel finely and deeply  engraved with scrolling designs, the barrel held to the stock with nice quality silver cappucines. There is some damage to one side of the wood near the barrel centre where a strip of wood is missing and probably also the cappucine mount that was in that area. Dating to the 19th century.  middle east
