Large Unusual Indian waved blade Katar

An unusual and interesting South Indian Katar. Fitted with a very long waved steel blade with thickened tip, the hilt with a large handguard which tapers to a large bud finial, a very southern feature. The arms inside and out decorated with fine steel chiselled repeating designs, which originally were covered with silver gilt sheet. The blade is unusual and shows by the forging lines to have been made originally wavy, rather than shaped out of a straight blade. 86 cms long.
