A very large Chinese Jian sword of the Qing dynasty, 112cms long overall. The long steel blade decorated with applied silver designs, inluding the sacred star constellations, figure and characters, and the qianlong chop mark to the forte. The guard and mounts all of chiselled brass, pierced and originally gilded, gold retained on the locket protected by the projecting handguard. The grips of bone, engraved with scenes. The scabbard is covered with brown lacquer, the hilt retains two original silk tassels. A very large example. Blade 83 cms.
