Horn hilted Moroccan Nimcha sword with gold and silver decoration
Description
A nice Antique Moroccan Nimcha sabre dating to the 18th century. The hilt formed from a single solid block of rich coloured horn, the iron guards and mounts damascened with gold decoration and retaining traces of arabic calligraphy. The heavy steel blade of European Dutch manufacture, with visible etched symbols to both sides including the words VIVAT HOLLANDIA. Retaining its original red leather covered scabbard with chiselled metal chape mount to the tip, and silk cord hanging mounts near the forte. Good condition, age wear to all parts. north african
