Fine Silver Gilt Ethiopian Shotel Sword in scabbard

 Rare and fine quality Ethiopian shotel sword. The mounts embossed with decoration in silver covered with gold, the long chape terminating in a ball, and with a panel of Amharic script to the front. The sword with a long curving strong steel  fullered blade, the handle made of exotic horn set with a silver plate to the end and a filigree silver gilt boss. The scabbard covered with purple velvet. The original  embossed leather belt is attached with silver gilt mounts and buckle loop. TOgether with an associated dagger, gilt pierced sheath with a horn handled dagger within. early 20th century
