Fine Arab Omani Shamshir sword with silver mounts and original sash
A beautiful and complete example of an Omani arab Shamshir sword. The curved high quality blade of wonderful wootz or ‘damascus’ steel displaying a strong pattern. The hilt with silver mounts most attractively chiselled and engraved throughout, ivory grips, the pommel of pierced and engraved silver. The scabbard again mounted in finely engraved silver the leather decorated with raised decorative scrolls, the reverse seam sewn with silver wire. Large pierced and engraved solid silver chape. This sword also retains its original silk cord sash with large tassels embroidered with gold and silver thread. A very fine piece in excellent condition. Circa 1860. middle eastern
