Aceh sword Sikkin from Sumatra with gold enamel mounts and ivory hilt 19th century

Description

Nice quality Sumatran sword ‘Sikin panjang’. Very rare to find, the hilt of ivory carved with designs. The lower mount with ‘crown’ of pure gold, inlaid with green enamel in beautiful designs, the lower steel mounts area inlaid with scrolling goldwork. Fine thick steel blade with whorled damascus pattern weld designs visible, some areas of wear and pitting. The wooden scabbard finely engraved with designs, banded with brass. A nice example of this sword from Aceh, Northern Sumatra dating to the 19th century.  southern asian
