Abyssinian Gurade sword with horn hilt and engraved blade

Description

A nice Ethiopian/Abyssinian sword Gurade circa 1900. The hilt of a single piece of deep patinated horn, with a boss of german silver to the pommel. Long heavy straight blade with two deep fullers on each face finely etched with decoration for their lengths, one side has the upper fuller etched with Amharic calligraphy. The forte has an engraved lion above which are smaller amharic characters, below is stamped the word depose, and S Terzian. Period of Menelik II.Complete with its thick hide sewn scabbard.
