Sudanese Spear Omdurman type

A good spear from Sudan circa 1880. This form of broad bladed leaf shaped spear is typical of the kind carried by the Mahdist forces in the late 19th century, many of which were captured by British soldiers at the Battle of Omdurman and brought home as souvenirs. The head with a delicate line engraved around the border, fluted shape, stout wooden shaft ( traces of old green paint) and a steel wound counterweight at the butt. One side of head cleaned of black patination the other left untouched. approx 6ft long.
