Massive heavy Iron Ancus Elephant Goad from South India

 A very large and heavy Iron elephant goad Ancus from Southern India. Stoutly constructed with reinforced rings and bindings, very thick curved hook with thickened tip and ridge along the middle, large square sided spike to the top. As well as being used to drive elephants, and as status symbols, these could also be used for weapons quite effectively.  86 cms long overall. 18th century or older.
