Indian Kirach sword with Pattern welded Damascus blade 18th century

 A rare Indian Kirach sword – from the same collection as the other kirashes currently listed. All these swords display the same quality of manufacture and similar styling to the blade facets etc , it is likely they are from the same armoury and/or workshop. This example has a fine quality steel blade,gently leaning forward as is typical for this type of sword. There are visible areas with a damascus pattern, pattern welded blades of this type were the speciality of many workshops and could result in a sword just as beautiful and often stronger and more practical than those of wootz, which were liable to fracture from hard use. This blade has an unusual profile.with a wide fuller ending just beneath the double-edged tip. The handle of steel, uncleaned and retaining an old darkened patination. 18th/early 19th century.
