Indian iron Ankus for elephants

Description

An indian iron Ankus, or ankusa, used by Mahouts to drive their elephants but also could be used as weapon if necessary. The curved goad extremely thick and robust, with a short thickened spike to the top. The handle with flattened, and twisted decorative working, 17th-18th century.
