An impressive German/Continental Spear or Lance ‘Langue de Boeuf’ known as an Ox-Tongue spear on account of the broad and thickness of the steel spear blade. The blade on this example is of massive proportions with a very thick reinforcing ridge along both sides and a greatly thickened tip. The base of the spear blade is also thickened and facetted and exhibits inlaid brasswork, two dots to each side and three brass rings.
