Central Asian/Afghan shashka type sword

Description

 An interesting sword of shaska/shashka/shasqua type originating from the area north of Afghanistan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan. The long slashing type blade of good strong from with shallow chiselled and engraved fullering. The steel bolsters are pierced with designs and filled with a red lac type substance, the grips are of dark horn with the typical caucasian shashka bifurcated /split pommel feature. Sound condition, age wear and patination, the grips have some old repairs and wear to the horn.  central asia, middle east, russian
