Vietnamese Tribal Lacquered Knife Sheath or Holder

Description

 An attractive wooden knife sheath block for attaching to a belt, from one of the minority tribes of the North Vietnam Mountain regions. The front lacquered in black and red and carved beautifully with eye-catching geometric designs with various motifs. The top of the block has a vertical slot in which the knife would sit, the blade pointing down. 20th century, collected on location.
