A wonderfully sculptural Kipinga throwing knife from the Congo. These weapons were superbly hand forged from steel, delicately weighted and shaped to give lift and distance to it as a spinning series of blades. The patina on this piece is uncleaned and retains a rich deep black lustre, and glossy woven bound grip. The hand forged nature can be seen on this piece in areas of delamination to the iron, a typical feature, the weapon is strong and solid throughout. Circa 1900
