Description

 A Fine weighted Indian Saddle axe or Battle Axe. These small axes were perfect for hand to hand combat and weighted steel heads for cutting through armour and helmets. Similar to Persian Tabars, the style of combat died out out in the 19th century. The steel hatchet head decorated over with thick encrusted gold and silver flower petals and decoration, the crescent blade sharp. The shaft gilt copper decorated in relief with flower designs for the full length terminating in a restored brass finial to the base. early 19th century.
