Unusual Afghan Rapier sword in the European style

Description

A most interesting Afghan rapier with wootz steel blade and mounts. This form of sword might be more though of as European interpreted in the afghan manner. The crossguard is very remiiscent to those found on European smallswords of the 18th and early 19th centuries.The grip is pierced through in arrangements of geometric designs,  with bronze within which provides an added decorative element to the precise steelwork. The pommel is of a ball-like shape and pierced finely throughout. The blade straight, applied at the forte with a panel of finely pierced brasswork, wootz steel mounts, itself  it is single edged with a long reinforced tip which is sharpened to both edges. 19th century.
