Superb Burmese 19th century Dha sword with thick Silver decoration

Description

 A magnificent example of a 19th century Dha sword from Burma. The blade in stunning perfect condition, heavu and very well made of fine steel, damascened in thick silver against a blackened steel ground with decoration of foliage, figures and animals all within a narrative of script picked out in varoius in panels, and again the calligraphy applied to the blade with thick silver. The hilt of tubular elongated form and of silver, the central grip section is decoration with finely chiselled figures within panels and bands of foliage, also some copper banding inlay as ectra decoration. The silver pommel of flattened form, the original scabbard survives mounted with sections of a silver-alloy type metal between which are waved wire applique fixed into place with red lac ( some loss and movement). This is a heavier and more substantial dha than most and in particular the blade has survived in immaculate condition.
