Rare Silver mounted Thai or Burmese Lance

Description

A most interesting and rare complete lance from South East Asia, Thailand or Burma. The elegantly shaped spearblade from steel, with a shaped ferrule at its base, with a floral four-obed metal guard. The upper portion of the lance shaft is covered with silver fittings with bulbous and tapering shapes, each edged with patterned silver borders.The shaft itself is a single length of thick stout bamboo, grown for purpose for strength and straightness. The bottom end with another silver covering and a very robust large steel blade to the bottom, again of steel with the matching turned shaping to its base. This lance dates to the 19th century and was made for actual use rather than a ceremonial piece. The final two pictures show two other related lances also available from ashoka arts . 257 cms long.
