Rare Indian Bayonet ‘Sangin’ for a matchlock Musket

A scarce ‘Sangin’ or bayonet blade made for a matchlock musket. Unlike the more standard western Military muskets, matchlocks  tended to be less used in close combat and so the need for these blades was much less, hence the relative rarity of these items. This piece has slender iro sidearms with minute holes used for tying the bayonet to the front of the stock. The blade is relatively small but the tip thickened to form a foursided spike. Uncleaned aged condition with some pitting. 12 inhes long approximately. Dating to the 18th century.   indo persian
