Rare Early straight sword from the Deccan

A rare early Indian sword from the south of the Sub-continent – the Deccan Plateau. Long straight blade with reinforced tip and central raised ridge for the full length. The hilt with large oviod dished guard, baluster shaped grip, curious ‘pagoda’ like raised pommel with ball finial. The blade mount elongated and decorated with swirling/scrolling designs in deep relief. There are traces of the original thick silver-gilt covering to parts of the hilt still remaining. With age wear, some dents and nicks, and a deep dark age patina throughout. A very scarce museum quality piece. Dating to the 16th/early 17th century. 36 inches  indo persian
