North or Central Indian Mail armour shirt with mail coif helmet circa 1600

Description

An original early mail (chainmail) jacket from the 17th or 18th centuries, made of rings of rivetted and welded steel. Together with an original mail hood of coif with face visor dating from the same period, again crafted from hundreds of small iron individually rivetted rings. The crown with a small plate perhaps originally fitted with a feather plume or crest. The mail shirt collar with a border of fabric.In original dusty condition with aged patina, uncleaned, with minor losses, old repair and wear throughout.   indo persian
