North Indian helmet – known as a ‘top’. Very decorative antique piece shaped in the form of a devils head, with two large curved horns, and the bowl with eyes and moustache. The surface of the entire helmet is decorated with fine silver and goldwork koftgari, including the top spike, horns and shaped nasal guard. The short camail skirt around the edge shaped into points. Good condition, from North West India, probably Sind region. 19th century. Complete with its original cotton liner padded with wool.
