A large straight bladed sword from Northern India often known as a Firangi or foreign sword largely on account of the use of the straight european style blades. The blade in this example is very likely European with a shallow back edge fuller on each side, probably German or Italian. the hilt of of steel with chiselled decorative elements overlaid with silver and gold retaining original grip wrap.
