Moroccan Nimcha or Saif sword Mounted with Gold and Enamel
A very fine quality North African ‘Nimcha’ sword from Morocco. In very good condition, the large grip of a single piece of Rhino horn, the iron mounts and handguard wholly decorated with thick gold decoration in excellent condition. The inside of the handguard has a deep makers stamp. The European probably French blade of very good quality steel, finely engraved on both sides with scrollwork, retaining a very sharp edge to one side. The scabbard covered with scarlet silk velvet (age worn). The mounts crisply chiselled from gold inlaid in the champleve technique with enamels of red, green, blue and white.
