Large Indian Painted Dhal shield

A nice large flat Indian dhal shield, finely lacquered and painted with designs of animals. The centre depicting a Hindu face, typical of Rajput pieces. Steel bosses lacquered to match, the shield of flat buffalo hide. Very high quality painting, loss and flaking to shield surface which is very fragile 18th century, North India/Rajasthan. 23inches diameter.  Indo-Persia
