An impressive long gun from Coorg in South West India. Very old example, heavy and with two fabulous pierced silverwork panels on either side of the stock at the breech, depicting a mythical Yali type beast and a female form amid scrolls. The barrel of twisted steel and beautifully fluted at the tip with silver and gold inlay, leather bindings holding it to the stock in intricate decorative patterns ( the last one loose). A really nice example 18th or 19th century
