Iranian Persian shamshir sabre with damascus wootz blade and inlaid gold cartouche

A nice quality Persian shamshir sword with broad wootz damascus steel blade inlaid with gold cartouche containing arabic calligraphy. The steel handle and scabbard mounts beautifully chiselled with designs of birds and foliage covered with gold. The original scabbard covered with blue silk velvet, the reverse seam with a woven silk fabric brocade. Good condition, wear to gilding and all parts, circa 1800
