Indonesian or Philippine Blowgun

Description

An interesting and scarce blowgun from Indonesia. Bearing a strong affinity with those used by the Sakai of Southern Sumatra, the bamboo pipe is decorated simply with engraved geometric decoration and having an inner bamboo tube which slides into the outer. The mouthpiece of shaped wood, woven cane band, the far end with applied gum or resin over cane binding (loss to gum). A very rare item in very good condition. circa 1900. 77 inches approximately.
