Heavy Persian steel lancehead with chiselled designs

A wonderful Persian lancehead, made from thick heavy steel. The entire piece has a wonderful uncleaned glossy black patina. The blade is thick chamfered with raised central ridges and reinforced edges and althoughthe patina does not reveal any pattern is of good damascus steel. The mountings are deeply chiselled with designs, the lower blade with a panel of birds, the shaft with a repeating pattern. A good quality item for warfare. 18th/early 19th century.  indo-persian
