Fine Persian shamshir sword with Laddered Kirk Narduban wootz blade
A magnificent Classical Persian Shamshir sword circa 1800 survivin inexcellent condition. The deeply curved steel blade of fine wootz steel patterned boldly with the laddered design known the ‘ladder of the prophet’ or ‘kirk narduban’. The hilt with watered steel crossguard attractively damascened with gold designs, the grips of antler, and complete with orginal gold decorated pommel. The original fine leather scabbard also survives in perfect condition, raised scrolling designs allover, two watered steel hanging bands with goldwork fully intact. This sword forms a companion to the second shamshir listed here, both with a most interesting historical provenance which can be supplied on request. 33 inches overall, the blade 27 inches approximately. indo persian
