Fine Indian Katar Dagger decorated with gold
Wonderful quality Indian Katar dagger. The arms and grips decorated with gold in almost perfect condition. In addition which is hard to see on the photo, the metal surface is subtely countoured and hollow ground in patterns to correspond with the geometry of the decoration which is a sign of the good workmanship of the craftsman. Towards the blade end of the inner arms the pattern is different from that replicated elsewhere. The blade is crisply chiselled with a flower and well defined spine running up the centre with a thickened tip, made of high carbon wootz steel it is a perfectly designed weapon for punching through clothes and armour. Complete with its original silk velvet covered sheath with a gold decorated steel chape. 19th century
