Early Indian Horsemans Axe possibly Deccan or South Indian
Description
A most interesting early Indian axe probably of horsemans type due its long length. Constructed of solid iron, of very heavy weight, the shaft is long, semi-cylindrical section and curving down to a ball finial at the end of the grip. The head is a wonderful compact lump of solid iron, simply chiselled and facetted with decorative elements. The whole piece displays a wonderful old uncleaned patina and possibly dates to the 17th century or earlier. indo persian
