Damascened Persian Spearhead with makers cartouche
Description
An interesting and rare Persian Lancehead. Fine quality piece, the blade long and thin of good steel with deep central fuller, one side with a maker stamped cartouche containing arabic characters. The steel shaft with some silver damascened decoration remaining. The socket entrance originally for the haft with an applied brass dome, apparantly making the spearhead into a shortsword or dagger during its working lifetime. Early 19th century. Indo persian
