Chinese Qing military hat. A very nice and somewhat rare example of a Chinese military or militia hard hat or helmet, made from woven cane. Conical form, retaining its original painted colour scheme of black, red, green and yellow, with gold painted chinese characters around the rim. Surviving in excellent condition and dating to the 19th century.
