A Chinese sword ‘Dao’. Steel mountings, the hilt with green fabric binding and additional brass mounts, four-lobed steel crossguard, and single edged steel blade with some fullering. The scabbard with steel mounts. Heavy attractive patination overall, the scabbard would originally have been leather or shagreen covered. 31 inches overall, the blade 23 inches. 19th century or earlier. China/Far East
