Carved section of architectural woodwork from South India

A very sculptural and decorative section of carved wood, probably from house or Temple, or a wooden chariot or cart. Decorated with a mythical lion/dragon like beast as frequently seen on South Indian and Tamil weapons. Remains of applied paintwork. This appears to be very old, certainly pre 19th century possibly 18th century or earlier.
