Antique Dayak Spear from Borneo with provenance

Description

A nice Antique Dayak spear from from the turn of the 19th century. This spear comes from an old Danish Collection, Thorkild Muller, who was a military pharmacist in Kalimantan between 1913-1931. His collection was formed out of confiscated weapons from Dayaks who had been arrested for headhunting, by then a prohibited activity. The spear has a very stout solid steel blade with nicely chiselled facetted neck, the steel with a nice black old patination. The collar is of brass, interestingly it is not typically Dyak in feature but bears resemblances to the brass collars sometimes found on Nias Island swords and spears. The shaft is of dark palmwood.  Approximately 74 inches long .  southern asia ,dayak iban mandau parang ihlang langgai tingang pakayun murut beladah
