A Japanese Edo Period Body Cuirass Domaru

Description

 A nice and unusual Samurai Body armour Domaru lacquered in black and marked with a bold red circle Mon front and back. The cuirass is made of plates of lacquered iron, hinged to one side to allow access, the  inside lined with stiffened fabric. The two shoulder suspension arms with fabric straps and worn horn toggles. The lower edge of the cuirass is pierced and  fitted with six protective skirt panels made from nerigawa laquered black leather.. Good overall condition but age wear. A dramatic display piece.Edo Period 18th/19th century.
