A good 19th century Southern Plains or Apache war bow
Description
A good antique sinew-backed war bow from the South West United States, an American Indian bow decorated with red vermilion decoration to the sides. Probably from the Mescalero Apache tribe. The sinew back with greenblack paint, the other face applied with red pigment. Two-ply original sinew bowstring. An identical bow with a label attributing it as gift from Chief Gall who fought at Little BIg Horn was sold several years ago for 30,000 USD.
