A nice 19th century Iban Dayak sword of ‘jimpul’ type from Sarawak in North Borneo. Early style hilt carved from bone with abstract figuralal detail and geometric carving, lower grip bound with fibre and finishing with a large Charles Brooke Rajah coin with the reverse showing Sarawak. The steel blade beautifully crafted with a curving feather like shape, inlaid with brass in patterns and with a delicate steel scrolled device near the forte. Complete with its original red coloured wooden scabbard with some carved ornamentation, lacking some bindings. southern asia, mandau
