19th century Afghan or Persian Shamshir sword
Description
A shamshir sword or sabre, probably from Afghanistan or Persia. The heavy curved blade is made of good steel, near the forte is an area where there are traces of two cartouches, these have been rubbed off. The hilt has slabs of bone or ivory, the steel mounts are blackened and overall the piece has age wear. The scabbard is covered with black leather with some embossed decoration to the front, two black steel hanging mounts, and a long facetted steel chape. indo persia
