Large Bhutanese silver mounted sword with pattern worked blade

Description

A very nice heavy sword from Bhutan, the single edged blade with strong pattern welded linear flame or ‘tongue’ motif along its length, the tip typically rounded. The hilt mounts of silver, with the grip covered with finely woven silver wire, the pommel pierced and chiselled with faint traces of gold applied. Long silver scabbard with three sections decorated with designs, the front having a zig zag theme and an applied hanging mount. 19th century    far east
