Persian wootz bladed shamshir sword with cartouche

Description

A Persian shamshir dating to the 18th or early 19th century. The blade of dark finely watered wootz steel inlaid to one side with  a cartouche containing the makers name in arabic script, and the Lion of Persia, surrounded with a gold inlaid border. The grips of bone or ivory showing repairs and infill, the hilt mounts of watered steel and brass. The blade with roughened surface and wear marks overall.  indo persian
